Removing Kitchen Tap Handle with indicator

Tools Needed: Small flat headed screwdriver (be careful if using sharp knife), philips screwdriver or allen key depending on tap design.

You don’t have to turn off your water to just remove a handle. But if proceeding to then remove your valve, turn off your water!

Pop-off the indicator: In order to prevent scratches we recommend trying first with a fingernail or flat headed screwdriver. You could use a sharp knife BUT it could cut you if it slips so that is why we recommend a small flat headed screwdriver instead. You are trying to not scratch the surface of your handle around the indicator.
Screw off indicator: Turn anti-clockwise to loosen the indicator.
Screw behind Indicator: Once the indicator has popped off you should see the screw behind it. Turn screw anti-clockwise with your Philips screwdriver / allen key and remove your handle. If it is a grub screw use correct sized allen key. Usually these range between 2mm to 3mm in size depending on design / manufacturer. You don’t want to ruin the head of your grub screw by using wrong sized allen key.
Remove Handle: Gently pull away or wiggle if stuck.
Valve cover: Some taps have a valve cover and again, if you want to remove this to expose your valve completely, turn counter-clockwise (anti-clockwise) to loosen.
